“We didn’t want forced carries or forced lay-ups, so you could always hit your best shot and have the ball in play. I thought it was important for players to always see the landing area for their drives from the tee, and we wanted to make sure that our par 3s, even if they played over water, would always have a route people could play around the hazard.”
